ACOUSTICS GROUP

Aims and tasks

Maintenance, operation and improvement of the national standard for the sound pressure level and the reference standard in its field of activity represent the role of the laboratory.

The national standard of sound pressure level consists of a group of laboratory standard microphones and a group of standard sound calibrators, with auxiliary installations.

Microphones calibration is performed using a primary method for pressure calibration of laboratory standard microphones by the reciprocity technique in the closed couplers, according with IEC 61094-2.

The projects for the development of the national measurement standard allowed us to expand from calibration on a single frequency to calibration on the entire frequency range of the microphone.

Currently we use a high-performance installation to measurement standard the microphones using the reciprocity method.

As a reference measurement standard in audiometry we use an artificial ear with an extended frequency range, which will enable participation in international comparisons.

Metrological services offered
Calibration from the following types of measuring means:

  • condenser microphones
  • sound calibrators
  • artificial ears
  • sound level meters
  • frequency analyzers
  • acoustic rooms (micro-anechoic chambers, etc.)

Verifications and pattern evaluations for the following types of measuring means:

  • sound level meters
  • condenser microphones
  • octave(1/1) and third-octave (1/3) band filters intended for the analysis of sound and vibrations
  • audiometers
  • sound exposure meters

VIBRATIONS AND KINEMATICAL QUANTITIES GROUP

Reference standard for mechanical vibrations
It is represented by a calibration system for piezoelectric acceleration transducers, made by Bruel & Kjaer, consisting of a measurement standard piezoelectric acceleration transducer and a precision conditioning amplifier, measurement standard together at DPLA, using the interferometric method (absolute method).

Reference standard for rotations
It consists of a measurement standard installation for rotations, made by Jaquet, equipped with a precision tachometer designed and built by the Kinematical group members.

Reference standard for linear speed
It consists of an installation designed and built by the Kinematical group members, used mainly when measuring the moving speed of cars and the metrological verifications of kinemometers for traffic control.
